MAX
1984 - 2006
On December 7, 2006 our family got a little smaller. After living
almost a quarter century, our beloved Cockatiel, Max, passed away and
left the bounds of this earth. Max was a joy to have as a companion and
buddy. Max
taught us a lot about birds and definitely amused us with his many
antics and playfulness. He loved to chew and almost cut his life short
on a lamp cord in his early years. He absolutely loved a cave (bag,
box, cabinet, etc.) and would defend it with his life. One of Max's
favorite things in life was how well he trained us to respond with
"pretty birdie" whenever he stretched one or both of his wings. You
could almost see him smile! However, what Max cherished most was a head
rub. He would gladly have let you rub his head for 24 hours a day! Max
helped us through our good times and
bad times. He seemed to know when something was wrong and would try to
comfort you. He learned to talk and some of his favorite sayings were:
- Daddy's little birdie
- Daddy's sweetheart (should have been Mommy's sweetheart but he changed it!)
- Whatcha doing
- What's up
- Pretty, pretty, little birdie
- Hello
Max would often mix the above words up and surprisingly enough, they
always would make sense. Such as Daddy's little sweetheart, hello.
However, pretty birdie was has favorite. He would stretch out many many
prettys and end it with an enthusiastic birdie. Along with many
different whistles, Max loved to make a "chicken sound". He also liked
to sit near a window and "talk" with the outside birds. Max
loved to be out of his cage and be one of the family. He always loved
sitting on your shoulder or taking a nap with you and cuddling up to
your face. What can I say old buddy, 22 years is a heck of a long time.
You
will never be forgotten and our memories of you will help keep you
"alive" until we meet again. You were more then we could have ever
asked for and I am forever grateful to my best friend who brought you
into our lives when you were seven weeks old. I think you said it best
and your epitaph should read;
pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty,
pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty,
pretty, pretty, BIRDIE!!! We loved you dearly. Rest in peace our
precious buddy.
